Jean B. Kochanski Jean B. Kochanski

Jean B. Kochanski (nee Carlson), 87, of Kewaskum was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Gables on the Pond, in Random Lake. She had been surrounded in her final years and days by cherished family members and wonderful caregivers. She was born on November 26, 1934, to the late Reuben and Margaret (nee Kresbach) in Milwaukee. Jean worked as an LPN in Milwaukee for many years. She enjoyed living in Milwaukee until more recent years, when she moved to be near more family in Kewaskum. The eldest of four dear sisters, she was a loving mother of two, grandmother of four, great-grandmother of five, auntie of nine, and great-auntie of many more.

Jean loved traveling and enjoyed reading. She sang in many choirs over the years. Jean taught English to the Hmong people in Milwaukee. She was a member of Sherman Park Lutheran Church in Milwaukee for many years. The delights of her life have always been family, music, conversation, travel, appreciating other cultures, laughter, and her communities of faith. She had a heart for children, the elderly and the downcast, volunteering with children and refugees after she retired from the V.A., where she served as a nurse. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Those Jean leaves behind to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Ellen Habeck and Laurie Struck; four grandchildren, Nicole (Brian) Butschlick, Jennifer (Jeramey) Werbelow, Amber (Matt) Jones, and Meagan Struck; five great-grandchildren, Hayley Butschlick, Addison Butschlick, Elyse Jones, Nova Smith, and Jayce Hawley, with one more on the way; three sisters, Carol (Leon) Burzynski, Dorothy Mason, and Shirley Nagel; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Nagel and Dick Mason.

A memorial service in remembrance of Jean will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 3 p.m. at Peace United Church of Christ, 343 First St., Kewaskum.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Preceptor Hospice and Gables on the Pond for all their help and care.

The Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home of West Bend has been entrusted with Jean’s arrangements. Additional information and guest book may be found at www.myrhum-patten.com.
