Janice Fiedler (nee Strehlow), 86, of Iron Ridge passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at Majestic Heights in Hartford.
Janice was born on November 14, 1936, to her parents Clarence and Viola Strehlow in the Town of Herman.
She was united in marriage to Ervin Fiedler on June 16, 1956, at Immanuel Hochheim Lutheran church in Theresa, and were blessed with seven children.
Janice was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge. She held various roles and participated in the Ladies’ Aid for almost 50 years. She remained committed to her faith and later continued her church involvement attending Peace Lutheran Church for the next 20 years. After, committing her life to raising her seven children, she took pride in being a well-loved caregiver to many local children who lovingly referred to her as “Grandma Fiedler.”
Janice loved spending time with her family, going to the casino “camping”, birdwatching, and she enjoyed playing cards and was involved in two card clubs.
Janice is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ervin Fiedler; children, Dennis (Heidi) Fiedler of Hartford, Daniel (Cindy) Fiedler of Colby, David (Vandy) Fiedler of Oregon, Douglas Fiedler of Iron Ridge, Darryl (Jessica) Fiedler of New Berlin, Debbie (Bruce) Frank of Hartford, Dale (Kelley) Fiedler of North Carolina; grandchildren, Dawn (Tony) Karel, Kristina Belyeu, Jeremy (Hannah) Fiedler, Yvonne (Darren) Blasel, Jennifer Fiedler, Lynsey (Calvin) Fix, Caprisha (Walter) Hall, Brian (Kristi) Fiedler, Jordan, Matthew, Zachary (Whitney) Frank, Elliot (Maggie) Frank, Jarod (Fiancée Maddi) Fiedler, Logan Fiedler; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Roger (Nerma) Strehlow; and many other loved nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Viola Strehlow; grandson, Kevin Fiedler; sister-in-law, Annie (Howard) Mayer; brother-in-law, Otto Fiedler; and other dear nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Peace Lutheran Building Fund are greatly appreciated.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Majestic Heights Assisted Living and the Hartford EMS.
Funeral Services for Janice were held on Thursday, Oct. 5, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford.
