David William Benter
David William Benter, 77, of Mayville passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at Hope Health and Rehab in Lomira.
David was born the son of William and Gertrude (Reinke) Benter on November 7, 1946, in West Allis.
He graduated from Mayville High School in 1964. David proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968.
David was united in marriage to Lois Giese on June 26, 1971, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
David was a farmer for many years in the Town of Theresa. He also worked for 19 years at Hechimovich Sanitary Landfill.
David was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as the finance secretary and treasurer. He was also a member of the choir. He was a member of the Mayville American Legion Post #69, where he held various offices throughout the years. David also ran the Mayville American Legion Hall and Bar and was a member of Dodge County # 856, 40et8.
David enjoyed various activities such as sheepshead, bowling, dartball, baseball, and volleyball. David’s family was first and foremost in his life. He truly treasured being able to spend time with them.
David is survived by his wife, Lois; his children, Becky Feucht and Chad Benter; grandchildren, David and Evan; siblings, Eileen Mueller, Edwin (Lou) Benter, Terry (Candy) Benter, Lynne (Andy) Klemme; sister-in-law, Donna Benter. David is further survived by other relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean; and brother-in-law, Robert Mueller.
Funeral Services for David took place on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church (River Church) in the Town of Theresa with Rev. Douglas Zahner officiating. Visitation for David was held on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville and again on Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church (River Church). Following the service on Wednesday, graveside military honors were conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post # 69 at Hochheim Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hope Health and Rehab in Lomira as well as St. Croix Hospice. The care and compassion shown to David and his family will always be appreciated and remembered.
