Dr. Robert “Bob” R. Baker
Dr. Robert “Bob” R. Baker, DVM, 71, of Oakfield, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at his home.
He was born on March 3, 1952 to the late Roman and Coyla (Mead) Baker in New Richmond, WI. He grew up on the family farm near Beloit.

Bob graduated as valedictorian from Brodhead High School in 1970. He continued his education for two years at the University of Wisconsin-Rock County, followed by one year at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Then four years at Iowa State University where he received his doctorate in Veterinarian Medicine. Bob was hired in July of 1977 at the Brownsville Veterinary Clinic.
He was an active member of the Oakfield FFA Alumni. Bob had a love for animals and helped many with their Fond du Lac County Fair animal projects. Bob enjoyed working and helping all of his clients he met over the years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid baseball player. Bob loved to cook and bake. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and will be missed dearly.
Those Bob leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 43 years, Julie Baker; four daughters, Shelly (Greg) Kottke, Melissa “Missy” Baker, Mickey (Nate) Oechsner, and Bobbie (Cory) Immel; five grandchildren, Megan Kottke, Marissa Kottke, Miranda Kottke, Natalie Oechsner, and Evan Immel; a brother, Stephen J. Baker; sister, Mary K. Baker; four sisters-in-law, Debbie (Rick) Schneider, Terry (Dan) Backhaus, Cheryl Meisenheimer, and Audrey Hoover; two brothers-in-law, Mike (Jackie) Steger and Herman (Tuttie) Steger; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, LuAnn L. Baker; his aunt, Gwen Mead; his in-laws, Herman and Velma (Shady) Steger; and his brother-in-law, Ricky Steger.
VISITATION: A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 350 Main St., Lomira. Food and drinks will be provided during the visitation.
