Wilbert Puls

Wilbert Henry Puls of Mayville went to be with his Lord on June 13, 2024, at the age of 94.
Wilbert was born Sep­tem­ber 10, 1929, the son of Oscar and Lucy (Schellpf­ef­fer) Puls in Mayville. He grew up on the fam­ily farm on Dec­ora Road. Wilbert was con­firmed April 2, 1944, by Rev. C. W. Strat­man.
On Sep­tem­ber 5, 1948, he mar­ried Ardis Dirks at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mayville. St. John’s was their church fam­ily for life.
Wilbert was a hard­work­ing man and sup­ported his fam­ily as a self-em­ployed milk hauler for 31 years. He also worked full-time at Mayville Metal Prod­ucts for 35 years, re­tir­ing in 1993.
Wilbert and Ardis en­joyed their trailer at Rolling Stone Lake for 27 years. Won­der­ful mem­o­ries were made there with fam­ily and many friends. After re­tir­ing he was busy in “Grandpa’s Garage” build­ing trail­ers, deer stands, stor­age sheds and many crafts. Hunt­ing, trap­ping, fish­ing were some of his fa­vorite pas­times. He en­joyed these ac­tiv­i­ties with his sons and grand­sons. He also en­joyed his rasp­berry patch for many years – shar­ing the bounty with fam­ily and friends. Wilbert and Ardis were also able to travel a bit and en­joyed trips to Mon­tana to visit their daugh­ter and her fam­ily.
He is sur­vived by his wife, Ardis of 75 years; their seven chil­dren, Vir­ginia (Dan) Bell, Ronald Puls, James (Chris­tine) Puls, all of Mayville, San­dra (Christo­pher) Budeski of Boze­man, MT, Richard (Pamela) Puls of Oshkosh, Tammy Knaus of Sun Prairie and Dave (Aimee) Puls of Mayville. He also leaves be­hind 15 grand­chil­dren and 23 great-grand­chil­dren plus one due very soon, and one great-great-grand­daugh­ter, also step-grand­chil­dren and their fam­i­lies; one sis­ter, Jan­ice Fis­cher of Mayville; sis­ter-in-law, Norma Puls of Mayville; and brother-in-law, Allen Dirks of Mayville; along with nieces, nephews and other rel­a­tives and friends.
Wilbert was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents, Oscar and Lucy; in-laws, William and Marie Dirks; broth­ers, Ken­neth and Har­vey; sis­ter, Gladys Mild­brandt; brother-in-law, War­ren Mild­brandt; sis­ter-in-law, Nancy Dirks; and nephews, Den­nis Mild­brandt, Dale Mild­brandt and Duane Dirks.
A fu­neral ser­vice for Wilbert was held Tues­day June 18, at 1:30 p.m. at St John’s Lutheran Church in Mayville with the Rev. Dr. Mark Cut­ler and Rev. Joshua Frazee of­fi­ci­at­ing. Vis­i­ta­tion was at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of ser­vice at 1:30 p.m. In­ter­ment fol­lowed at St. John’s Ceme­tery in Mayville.
The fam­ily would like to ex­press their ap­pre­ci­a­tion to the staff at SSM Health at Home Hos­pice of Fond du lac for the kind and at­ten­tive care given to Wilbert, es­pe­cially by Amanda and Heather. Your kind­ness will not be for­got­ten.
