The Boys of Summer CONTRIBUTOR I was one of the boys of summer, playing baseball in the Hartford Recreation Department boy’s league back in the 1950s. We played baseball all day long – mornings and afternoons at West Side Park and after supper the boys in my neighborhood played scrub games on an empty lot on the block where we lived. If we couldn’t muster enough for a scrub game, we would
