Dolores June Fincke Dolores June Fincke

In the afternoon of Tuesday, July 11,2023, our sweet mother and grandmother, Dolores June Fincke, passed away after a brief battle with acute leukemia in the comfort of her daughter and son-in-law’s home, where she had resided for the past three years. She was 90 years old. Dolores June Fincke was born in Fond du Lac to James W. and Ethel Moore. She spent a few years living with her beloved Aunt Laura, Uncle Harold, and cousin Mary Jean in Ironwood, Michigan. She treasured the time spent there with her family, including her sweet grandmother.

She returned to Fond du Lac and graduated from LP Goodrich. She started at a canning company, Mengel’s Dress Shop, and Tasty Bakery before working at Bestt Roller for the next 37 years. She very proudly campaigned for local candidates. She retired following the birth of her beloved twin grandsons. Before her marriage, she often could be found caring for her nieces and nephews. They frequently recall their special times together.

On October 17, 1967, she married Clemens Donald “Cuddles” Fincke at St. Joseph’s Church. Spending time together was important. After having their daughter, they enjoyed many camping trips, including to Arkansas and South Dakota before his illness ended their travels. Many precious times were spent at their weekend get-a-way or watching the Chicago Cubs on TV. Don preceded her on September 18, 1990.

Having fun was a great part of her life. She spent almost every weekend together with Laura and her family. She was a loyal fan for her grandsons’ events. She enjoyed doing ceramics and shared her beautiful projects with her family members and friends. In her later years, she enjoyed adult coloring, challenging puzzles, spending time in the woods picking up pinecones/sticks, and just about anything that her family was doing. Even in her last weeks, she still had fun camping with her family. She was so full of life and fun with a beautiful, and sometimes mischievous, smile.

She was a free spirit and a pure soul who served as a beacon of happiness for all those around her. Her unbridled enthusiasm, infectious laughs, and endless Grandma-isms were the epitome of who she was. Throughout her final days, she was surrounded by many of her loved ones and was able to celebrate her grandson’s impending marriage in a special ceremony to allow her to witness the wedding in some capacity prior to her departure to her heavenly home.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura “my papoose” (David) Seefeld; and grandsons, Alex “Alley Cat” (Tessa Pfortmiller), Zach “Zach-apoo”, and Nathan “her roommate.” She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Moore; her sisters-in-law, Linda (Wayne) Lowery and Gerry Moore; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was greeted in Heaven by her husband, Don; parents; brothers, David, Wilfred Colin “Colie”, Donald I. “Mike”; and sister, Mary Patricia “Peggy”. She is preceded by her sisters-in-law, Joan Moorehead, Rita (David) Huebschman, Nadine (Jim) Gendron, and Janet Fincke.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to SSM Adult Day Services, especially Edna, and SSM Hospice, especially Denise.

A public visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Parish. Subsequently, a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the same location at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac.

Services are in the care of Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 North Park Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Additional information and guestbook can be found at ueckerwitt.com
