Marilyn A. Martin

Marilyn A. Martin, 88, of Kewaskum, passed away at her home on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, with her family at her side.
Marilyn was born on October 22, 1935, in a farmhouse in the Town of Wayne, the daughter of the late Herman and Elsie (nee Engelmann) Eichsteadt. She led a rich and fulfilling life, deeply rooted in her community and faith. Her journey began in Wayne, and after moving to West Bend in 1948, she graduated from West Bend High School in 1953. Her early career saw her working at the Woolworth store, a popular retail chain at the time.
She was united in marriage to Wallace Martin on May 8, 1954, at Zion Lutheran Church. Marriage brought a new chapter as she and her husband moved to Kohlsville to farm. This period was marked by hard work and dedication to their land. In 1983, she moved to Kewaskum, where she continued to work, this time at Pick ‘n Save in West Bend, until her retirement in 2011.
Her life was filled with activities she loved. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and spending time at her son’s place up north. Family and friends were central to her happiness, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, she was actively involved in various church activities, including the Ladies Aide, Vacation Bible School, and Bible classes. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Zion Lutheran Church, which held a special place in her heart.
She also contributed to her community in other ways. She was a member of a homemakers group and played a significant role in starting the Kohlsville Cruiser Snowmobile Club, serving as its first secretary. Additionally, she enjoyed being part of the XYZ Card Club of Kewaskum.
Her daily routine included reading the Bible, and she had the remarkable experience of visiting every state in the US and a few Canadian Provinces. Her life was a testament to her love for family, faith, and community.
Those Marilyn leaves behind to cherish her memory include her son, Craig (Kathy) Martin of Campbellsport; four grandchildren, Melanie, Brandon, Erika, and Leah Martin; a great-grandson, Leroy Bird; a brother, Calvin Eichsteadt; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; a son, Mark Martin; a sister-in-law, Sandy Eichsteadt; a brother-in-law, Norman Martin; and her parents-in-law, Eleanor and Ed Martin and Louis and Alma Benedum.
